Damon Colbert Obituary

Damon Renee Colbert "Screaming Demon" was born on September 5th 1958 to Pauline Whitfield and William Colbert. He was preceded in death by his parents Pauline Whitfield, William Colbert, sister Felicia Colbert Omeke, brother Samuel Whitfield, granddaughter Jamesha Rogers and grandparents Samuel and Ophelia Whitfield. He attended Allen Chapel Church as a child he later accepted church at Antioch Baptist Church #1 in Sandtown neighborhood in Oklahoma City under the leadership of Pastor Roseborough. He rededicated his life to Christ under leadership of Pastor L. Cezar at Antioch Baptist Church. He joined Kingdom Road Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor George Worthham until his health declined. His Pastor said he was one of the most dedicated members. Damon attended Oklahoma City public schools he graduated from Douglas high School class of 1976. Damon work for a pipeline company for 5 years. then he became an employee for a community action for 12 years. He ended his career as a private caregiver for 4 years. There was never a dull moment with him. He was a natural born comedian. He loved to make people laugh. He had a nickname for everybody including himself. He had a passion for cooking and eating his eating habits was always strange. He was known for mixing all his food and eating it together. He was a mama's boy. He also was diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved working on cars. He enjoyed coffee while reading the word. When it came to the word, he came to his own conclusion with that. Damon leaves to cherish in his memory his brother Travis Gaines of Seattle Washington, his sister Carrie Lyons of Renton Washington. His sister Ruth Barner (Charley) his Godsister Susan Lundy and his godbrother William Taft (Barbara) all of Oklahoma City. His children Latoya Colbert of Seattle, Washington Tashawana Long, Marcus Moore, DaMont Long and Darnisha Wilson all of Oklahoma City His sixteen grandkids, one great-grandchild and uncle, aunts and a host of cousin’s nieces and nephews.
