Celebrating the Life of Frankie Marie Carter Starks
Frankie Marie Carter Starks was born on May 23, 1945, in Porter, Oklahoma, bringing great joy to the home of her parents, Mervin Carter, Sr., and Bessie Atkins Carter. After living a full and inspirational life, Frankie peacefully passed away into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her four siblings: Mervin Carter, Jr., Alice Jean Carter, Michael James Carter, and Roger Carl Carter, as well as two loving sons: Franklin Roosevelt Macon and Steven Lamont Macon.
Frankie was previously married to Franklin D. Macon, Sr., Clyde Hornbeck, and Montgomery D. Starks. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved son, Ronnie James Harrison, her grandchildren: Tracy, Felicia, Champaign, and Frankie, and a host of other loved ones and friends. Each of these will carry on her legacy and forever treasure her memory in their hearts.
Throughout her life, Frankie was known for her dedication to various endeavors, including being a devoted housewife, a talented hairdresser, and a skilled seamstress. Frankie was a generous giver, known for providing financial help to those in need as well as faithfully tithing to her local church. Her Christian faith was a cornerstone in her life, having accepted Christ at the tender age of 7. She united with the Fifth Street Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Dr. J.B. Bratton and led her family to follow Pastor Bratton’s ministry by becoming members of Emmanuel Baptist Church when the church was established under Pastor Bratton’s leadership. As a young adult, she was actively involved in the ministries of Emmanuel Baptist Church and the various other churches that she attended throughout the years. She had a smile that would light up a room and was known for her beautiful singing voice, lending that voice to the church choir and also engaging in her local church ministry outreach efforts.
Frankie's legacy lives on through her son Steven's children: Tyriesha Harrison, Steven Lamonte Jones, Davion Macon, and Stephanie Harrison, as well as her son Ronnie's daughter, Akeia Sharron Harrison.
Frankie's life was filled with love for her Lord, caring for her family, and serving her community. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her kindness, love, and warmth will continue to be felt by all who were touched by her presence.
May she eternally rest well in the sweet arms of Jesus Christ.
