Gary Edward Johnson was born on November 5, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Maxine Bailey (Jackson) and Floyd Perry. He was adopted by Wallace and Leana Johnson of Chickasha, Oklahoma where he attended school. Gary was joined in marriage to Sherion Jenkins in December 2014.
Among the many occupations that Gary employed throughout the years, he built mobile homes, worked on oil rigs, and worked on railroads. Gary was a man of many talents. He is known to be a skilled auto mechanic, and some may surmise that he could build a house with his bare hands. Gary also was a man with many passions. He loved to repair and drive fast cars. He was an avid fisherman. He loved to cook. He loved gardening. He loved music. And he loved to dance.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and his daughter, Tish Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory and further his legacy the surviving children: Jarita N. Givens, Chickasha, OK; Darcel Glenn, Fort Worth, TX; Tomieka Johnson, Oklahoma City, OK; Chris Welch, Holdenville, OK. Gary’s surviving stepchildren: Steven Tillman; Sonya Tilman; Ronnett Jenkins; Rachel Jenkins, all of Oklahoma City, OK. His surviving siblings: Antoinette Jackson, Oklahoma City, OK; Jonathan Jackson (Tammy), Noble, OK; Bonita Baines (Reginald), San Antonio, TX; Kimberly Owens (Frederick), Oklahoma City, OK. Also mourning his passing are 26 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
