JEDDIE “JET” COX was born into this world on October 30, 1934 in Purcell, Oklahoma, as
the only child to James and Bernice Cox. Jeddie accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Booker T. Washington K-12th grade.
Jeddie attended Langston University and Oklahoma University. He played basketball in his earlier years, but as he got older, he fell in love with the game of golf. Jeddie was an avid golfer,
and won many Golf Tournaments. He loved sports and could read the newspaper all day long. He was often teased of reading the paper twice because he read the paper so much.
Jeddie started his first career with Quail Creek Golf & Country Club, where he worked 16 years. Later, he became an essential worker with Ricks Exploration Oil & Gas, where he retired
after 27 years. He also owned several Clubs, Barbecue Restaurants, and a Janitorial Business. Jeddie met and married Erma Kay Sumpter. Two children were born to this union.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and three grandchildren.Jeddie leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters: Sherry Bates (Montana) of Springfield,
Missouri; Rita Rose (Mickey) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Connie Cox of Purcell, Oklahoma;Angela King of Columbia, South Carolina; one son, David Cummings of Tulsa, Oklahoma;
thirteen grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; his uncle,Murphy Smiley; cousins, Yvonne Spivey and Teresa Duncan; goddaughter, Precious
Roundtree; friend, Sonya Smith; special friends: Kashila Rolison, Henry Walker and Reginald Hill; a host of other relatives and friends.
