Laura Johson Obituary

A Fairytale Farewell:

The Life and Legacy of Queen Laura Jean Johnson

Once upon a time, in the vibrant kingdom of Oklahoma City, a shining star was born on a crisp winter morning, December 19, 1947. Her name was Laura Jean Ellison, the first-born daughter of the noble Eddie Lee and Katherine Ellison. As the eldest of 11 siblings, Laura was a beacon of strength and love, a protector and guide, who learned early how to weave the threads of family into a beautiful tapestry of unity.

From a young age, Laura was known throughout the land as a nurturer, with a heart as warm as the sun and a spirit that inspired all who crossed her path. She attended Douglas High School, where she blossomed into a young woman full of promise and grace. She grew into her role as a queen in her own right, dedicating her talents to the Oklahoma City Public School District as a cook, where she nourished not only bodies but spirits with her kindness and care for decades, retiring in 2010.

In 1999, fate led Laura to meet her true king, Darnell Johnson, and they forged a royal union of love and devotion. Together, they created a castle filled with laughter, wisdom, and the joyous echoes of their family. Their love became a powerful force, grounding and guiding the generations to follow.

Laura’s magical gift was her ability to transform a house into a home—a haven where family gathered, stories were told, and hearts were mended. She presided over her bustling kingdom with grace, lovingly embracing 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Her love knew no bounds, and her legendary heart led her to adopt five of her grandchildren as her own, sealing her legacy as the matriarch of the ages.

Her favorite pastime was an enchanted game of bingo, where she spun her luck and charm into cherished memories with dear friends and loved ones. Her laughter rang through the halls like a melody, a song that will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched.

Yet, even queens face trials, and Laura bore her losses with the dignity of royalty. She bid farewell to her parents, five sisters, two brothers, and two of her beloved children, Terrance Sr. and LaTonya, who now welcome her into the eternal palace above. Though the kingdom mourns, her spirit lives on in her husband, Darnell Johnson; her three sons, Anthony Sr., Terrance Sr., and Clanan Sr.; her two sisters, Valleria Brown and Rhonda Knuckles; her brother, Charles Ellison; and the countless other souls she blessed.

Queen Laura’s story is one of unconditional love, unyielding faith, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She leaves behind a legacy written not in books but in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. Her memory will continue to shine as brightly as the stars in the night sky, guiding her family for generations to come.

As the sun set on December 13, 2024, Queen Laura closed her eyes for the last time in this realm and stepped gracefully into the arms of her Creator. The kingdom will forever cherish her memory, her laughter, and her unwavering love. Rest now, our beloved queen, for your legacy will forever reign in our hearts.

And so, though her earthly tale has ended, her fairytale of love and light will live on forever.
