Nancy Goree Williams was born to Mattie and Eddie Goree in Marion County Alabama on March 9, 1936. She was the last to be born of this union. She graduated from Parker High School in 1955; shortly after graduation, she met and married the love of her life Lewis Williams on March 25, 1956.
She became a Christian at an early age; she loved singing and working in various ministries at the Compton Avenue Church of Christ. She had a great love for her family and friends and her passion was preparing southern food and entertaining several guests; her hospitality was just one feature. She was described as making outsiders feel welcome. As she entertained her family her friends, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren which was her world! On Saturday, July 25th, The Lord called Nancy home; absent from the body and present with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish in her memory, her husband Lewis Williams and three daughters Patsy Williams, Lynell Pinkney (Arnold Pinkney), Cynthia Murray (Lawrence Murray), grandchildren Elliott Pinkney, Christopher Pinkney, Whitney Murray Gilbert (Gene Gilbert) and Hannah Murray, great grandchildren Keleisha Pinkney, Kamiyah Pinkney and Xander Z. Gilbert, and a host of family and friends.
