Leonard Ramon Doakes, Jr. was born January 22, 1975 to the Reverend Leonard and Myrion Doakes, Sr. He was their first born son. Junior accepted Christ and was baptized under the leadership ofhis father at an early age.
Leonard was always known as "Junior." He attended Millwood Elementary, Middle School and High School. Then he later graduated from Samuel F. B. Morse High School in San Diego, California on June 13, 1993 when his family relocated to Southern California. He attended Langston University along with his cousins Issis Roberts and Cinthia Wells.
Leonard was forever known to be a social-lite, jovial, funny, prayerwarrior, and loyal servant. He enlisted in the army February of 2000 as a Combat Engineer. Leonard worked for a variety of companies in many areas, which included a Personal Bodyguard for Douglass Guard System in Tucson, Arizona for 14 years. During his residency in Oklahoma, Leonard Doakes, Jr. served at Genesis Project. He was currently employed by Oklahoma City Public Schools at John Marshall Middle School as a Parent-Teacher Liaison. He loved helping people. Being the well-rounded individual that he was, Junior always made a friend and was a friend to others. There wasn't a friend that he did not know.
His favorite scripture was Psalms 23 and his favorite song was "Praise is What I Do." At the young age of five, Junior served in ministries in the church such as singing in the choir and participating in holiday plays for many years. He has also participated in community functions that included volunteering for the Head Start Program in San Diego, California June of 2010. However, his greatest accomplishment developed when he accepted his calling into the ministry and was licensed to preach on September 15th of 2019. Reverend Leonard Doakes, Jr. devoted his time in the word of God and continued to share the gospel as he prayed with and for people daily. He will truly be missed by his family, friends and colleagues as far as the West Coast is to the East Coast.
