Rosa Lee Jones was born in Warner, Oklahoma on November 11, 1935, to Robert Elmer and Sarah Jane Jones. She attended Douglas Schools then, graduated from Cosmetology School, and became a licensed beautician. Rosa accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. When her family moved to Oklahoma City she remained in Warner with her grandmother, uncles, and aunties she later moved to Oklahoma City to join her parents and siblings.
Rosa met and married Ray L. Gordon. She gave birth to 6 six children. She worked and retired from Hormel Frozen Foods in 2001. After retirement, she worked as a cook at Little Angels Day Care Center. Her ministry to the church began as an Usher for the CME Church first at Sykes CME Church then she continued at St. John CME Church where she retired a few years ago. She also served as a member of the Missionary Society was a faithful member of the Sunday School where she made sure everyone contributed. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning in the kitchen especially on Fish Fry days and the Pastors Anniversary. Rose, as she was called, was honorary Grandma to all the children at St. John.
Rosa's most rewarding accomplishment was raising her family who will tell you as kids we were never hungry or cold or went without. All her children completed their education's and have made many accomplishments because of her example of hard work and dedication. On September 9, 2021, she made her transition to her home in glory. Preceding her in death were her sons David, Walter Samuel, and Michael Anthony Jones. Her Husband Ray L. Gordon, her Father Robert E. Jones, and her Mother Sarah J. Jones. Her sibling's brothers Timothy (Buster) Jones, Othella (Sam) Jones, Alexander Jones, Robert Jones, John Wiley Jones, Carless Jones, and Booker Jones. Her Sisters are Patricia Cook, Emma Green, Julia Shepherd, Celia Hill, and Henryetta Gunn. She leaves to mourn daughters Rev. Janice Thompson, Vickie and Johnny Nubine, Cheri Johnson and Sister In-Laws, Rhoda Jones and Luvenia Jones and brother William Jones, and her beloved Pastor Anthony Walker. She had 12 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren, 27 great-greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children.
