Steve was born January 5, 1961 to George and Edna Jackson in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the seventh of nine children; Geraldine, George Earl, Frank, Ricky, Warren, Calvin, William and Camille. He received Christ at a young age but continued to worship and expand his relationship with God throughout his life. As a child he was known for his broad smile, sense of humor, laughter, being a uniquely gifted athlete and true teammate.
Steve excelled at all sports, playing basketball, football and baseball for organized teams. However, Baseball was truly his passion – he simply loved everything about the game. He played on many teams, assisting with State Championships, receiving many awards, trophies and accolades. One of his most proud accomplishments was being part of the 1973 RufNex team that won the Bronco League, World Series in Mexico City, Mexico.
After graduating from Millwood High School in 1979, Steve received athletic scholarships to Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ and Garden City Community College in Garden City, KS. After college Steve worked for a few companies including Mayflower Transit prior to an early retirement for medical reasons.
One of his most proud moments was the birth of his children. He was blessed with a son Christopher Curry and daughters Marketta Jackson, Chrystal Curry, Courtney Curry and Nytina Haggins. He was fortunate to have a long relationship with his partner Sherry Jackson who was by his side at the end of his earthly journey.
Steve went home to be with our Lord on Friday morning, January 22, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Jackson; his siblings Geraldine, George Earl, Frank and Warren; his children Christopher and Chrystal.
Steve leaves to cherish his precious memories, his siblings Hassan (aka Ricky) and Calvin of the residence, William (Tracey) resides in Midlothian, VA, Camille Johnson of Oklahoma City; his children Marketta, Courtney and Nytina all of Oklahoma City; His partner Sherry Jackson of Oklahoma City. A host of aunts, grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives, former teammates and friends.
