Suzanne Robinson Obituary

On February 27th, 1941, in Vinita, Oklahoma, Castella Landrum and Clarence T. Harris welcomed their first-born beautiful baby girl named Suzanne to their family.  The family remained in Vinita until 1958.

The family moved to Wichita, Kansas and she attended East High School the same year she met Leodies (Robbie).  She finished High School (1961) and enrolled at St Francis nursing school and completed her requirements to become a registered nurse. In 1963 she married Robbie and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska with him.  They later moved to Langston, Oklahoma where Suzanne worked as the campus nurse.  In 1970 the family moved to Oklahoma City where she continued her career in the nursing field until she retired.  She continued with her academic pursuits, becoming a nurse practitioner, and later earning an undergraduate degree from Southern Nazarene University.

Suzanne accepted Christ early and she was a member of Unity Spiritual Life Center of Oklahoma City.  Suzanne was known for adopting people she encountered through work and church. She was also known for her many talents with her primary focus on protecting and raising her family.  Her talents included sewing for the family, knitting/crocheting, gardening, fishing and of course her specialty cooking and baking. She loved to find and enrich recipes and make them “her own”.  She was a true team mom and other-mother to Robbie’s coaches, players and students that would stop by to visit. She often stated: “we always seem to have more than enough food” and would invite them to stay for dinner.

Her favorite professional organizations, the Oklahoma Black Nurses Association, The Oklahoma State Master Gardeners program, the Computer Club and teaching knitting/crocheting at Michaels.

Suzanne was preceded in death by Leodies and Derrion Sr. (grandson).  She leaves behind sons Brian & Nathan. Suzanne was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend.

Left to cherish her memories are grandchildren; Shanika, Brianna, Francesca, Adonis, Shadae, Jamil and Sofia, great grandchildren; Derrion Jr., Desmond, niece; Shawnte, great nieces/nephews, “favorite cousin” Carval and numerous friends, adopted children Michael, Greg, Roosevelt (Latena) and a special family enshrinement to Eric (EJ), Coynetta (Necee) and family.

Suzanne, you will truly be missed, yet you left us with beautiful memories we will never forget you.
