Celebrating the Life of Vernon M. Goldsmith Jr.
October 30, 1968 – April 14, 2026
Obituary
On October 30, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, God blessed the world with the life of Vernon M.
Goldsmith Jr., born to Beverly Johnson and Vernon M. Goldsmith Sr. Vernon was a quiet and humble man
whose gentle spirit, calm nature, and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.
Vernon was raised in Oklahoma City and educated through the Oklahoma City Public School System. He
completed his educational journey with pride as a member of the Star Spencer High School Class of 1988.
Following in the honorable footsteps of both his father and grandfather, Vernon answered the call to serve
his country in the United States Army. He served with dignity, discipline, and pride, carrying on a family
legacy of military service.
After his military service, Vernon built a professional career in the restaurant industry, where he was known
as a hardworking and dependable employee.
Vernon also enjoyed the game of basketball. Though a man of few words, his life spoke volumes through
kindness, loyalty, and a peaceful spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon M. Goldsmith Sr.; grandmother Addie E. Johnson;
grandparents Otis and Frankie Goldsmith; uncles Frank Goldsmith and Richard Goldsmith; aunts Alice
Goldsmith-Cobb, Lorraine Thomas, Carol Goldsmith, and Janice Goldsmith; and great-grandmother Erma B.
Thompson Boyles Guyton.
Vernon leaves to cherish his memory his mother and stepfather Roger and Beverly Furroux of Oklahoma
City; siblings Nigel Goldsmith of Shreveport, Louisiana, Carl Wright and Cotheia Goldsmith, both of
Oklahoma City; aunt Ruth Ann Goldsmith-Benford; uncles Bishop Jeffery Goldsmith and Kenneth Goldsmith
of Oklahoma City; along with a host of relatives and friends.
Though our hearts are saddened, we rejoice in knowing that Vernon answered the call of the Master and
entered eternal peace on April 14, 2026.
