Wilda K. (KayLou) Shelton-Cooper was born on December
1, 1946, in Temple, Oklahoma to Coleman Young Shelton
and Lena Mae (Jackson) Shelton. She was the 9th child born
to their union. She attended Temple Public Schools and later
moved to Oklahoma City, where she received her General
Education Diploma. She soon became a certified dietary
aide and was employed by the Oklahoma City School
Board. Later in life, she was employed by various nursing
homes caring for patients and by the Gazette Printing
Company.
In 1964, Wilda Kay joined in marriage with K.O. Cooper and
together they welcomed daughter, LaSandra K. Cooper.
In May of 2002, Wilda Kay rededicated her life to Christ and
fulfilled Matthew 28:19 by obeying Acts 2:38. Her legacy of
love and family is what she will be remembered for the most.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings:
George Shelton, Ruth Ella (Shelton) Debose, Coleman Y.
Shelton Jr, Oscar Cook, Johnnie Mae (Joann) Shelton,
Jesse V. Shelton, Willie C. Shelton (Steve), Theodorse
(Doris) Shelton, Theresa (Shelton) Butler, Larry Shelton,
Ted Shelton, & Priscilla Ann Shelter.
Her legacy lives on by those she leaves behind to
remember her. Daughter: LaSandra K. (Sandy Kay Cooper)
Zachery, Son-in-law: Philip (Phil) Zachery, Grandsons:
Rodney (RJ) Marsette James Jr, and DeAngelo (De) Tawon
James, their wives: Sha-Questa (Shay) James & Taylor
Shanel (James) Davis, great-grandchildren: Akarré Jantaye
(James) Berry, Tristan Jeremiah James, Mosheh KeShone
Berry, Latrionna K. Fields, and I’Lijah E. Fields.
