Zenus Jenkins Obituary

Zenus “Sunny” Jenkins Jr was born July 18, 1944 in Watonga Oklahoma to Zenus Sr and Elizabeth Jenkins.  He passed away on December 12, 2022 at the age of 78, after a lengthy illness.

Zenus was a football player for Watonga High School where he received numerous awards and after graduating high school and serving his country, played professional and semi-professional football and was the coach for the Oklahoma City Dolls semi-professional women’s team. He joined the US Army, was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he met and married Viva Valentine Jenkins and then was deployed to Vietnam where he received the Vietnam Service Medal for Sharp Shooter.  After the military, he held numerous jobs including tinker air force base, police officer and oil field worker. 

Zenus was a member of Resurrection of Life Ministries in Spencer, Oklahoma.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, playing dominoes, and hanging out with friends at the Legion Hall in Midwest City. He never met a stranger and would talk for hours to anyone that would listen.

Proceeding him in death is his parents Zenus Sr & Elizabeth Jenkins, brothers L.C. & Robert Jenkins, Sisters; Pauline Pittman, LuVern Beavers, Helen Jenkins, Zeffie Swanegan, and Earnestein Jenkins.

Zenus leaves to cherish his children Felecia (Kevin) of Oklahoma City; Vickie (John) of Edmond, OK; Shawntae (Breon I) of Del City, OK; Taneika (Connell Sr) of Oklahoma City; Marco (Katina) of Yukon, OK; James (Cotton) of Moore, OK; Steven of Midwest City, OK and Marlin of Colorado Springs, CO; brother Andrew Arthur of Florida; Three sisters Bertha Williams and LuVon Runnels of Oklahoma City; Carnell (Joe Lee) Gates of Spencer, OK; Katherine (Dwight) Brown of Midwest City, OK; Twenty grandchildren, twenty great grandkids, special friends Donnie and Britney Cherry, and a host of nieces and nephews.
