Zora Jean Earlene Flynn (known by those close to her simply as “Jean”) was born August 29, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at University Hospital to the proud parents of Arthur J. Flynn and Gussie M. (Walker) Flynn.
Jean was always a quick learner and naturally academically gifted. Even as a child, she was able to skip kindergarten and start school into first grade and she eventually graduated from Star Spencer High School (Spencer, Oklahoma) at 16 years of age.
She and her sister, Vera, were (and remained practically) inseparable spending many of their adult years living together, hanging out together and raising their children together.
On March 16, 2000, Jean entered into holy matrimony with the love of her life, Charles Edward Parker.
Working her way up from Clerk to Senior Tax Auditor, Zora was employed at the Oklahoma Tax Commission where she later retired after 30+ years of service.
Sister Parker gave her life to the Lord at an early age and has spent many years of her life in the service of the Lord. As a longtime and dedicated member of Jones Chapel Church of God in Christ (formerly First Church of God in Christ), lead by Elder Gilbert Oliver, Aspiring Missionary Jean Parker served in many capacities, including President & Member of the Senior Choir, Member of the Finance Committee, Member of the Trustee Board, Former Member of the CWC (Christian Women’s Counsel), Former Member of the Nursing Home Ministry.
Jean loved fishing with friends and relatives as one of her major past times.
Sister Parker departed this life on July 26, 2020 at her home in Spencer, Oklahoma.
Zora leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Charles E. Parker (Spencer, OK), two children: Johnathan “Jet” Delce (Karen), Dallas, TX and Desmond L. Cole, two-stepchildren: Deidre Parker Carolina (Oklahoma City, OK) and Willie Parker (Sandra) (Oklahoma City, OK); 2 sisters: Sarah (Flynn) Spurlock (Atlanta, GA) and Vera (Flynn) Scales (Spencer, OK); 1 grandchild; Johnathan R. “L.J” Delce (Dallas, TX); 11 step-grandchildren: Jhade Parker, Jawaun Carolina, Jinicko Carolina, Kava Harper, Tashaia Russell, Quincy Morris, Willie Russell, Daveion Russell, Donavon Bell, Ashandai Parker, Samaya Parker; best friend: Frances Parks; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Sis. Parker is preceded in death by her parents along with her daughter: Stephanie Y. Delce (Spencer, OK); four brothers: Franklin Hill (Garden City, KS), Floyd Hill (Boley, OK), Laverne Flynn (Spencer, OK) and Benjamin Flynn (Tulsa, OK); and a sister: Rosana McCarroll (Spencer, OK).
